Garni Temple, Geghard Monastery

 

Garni Temple is a masterpiece of Hellenistic architecture in Armenia. It was reconstructed in 1975, almost 300 years after it was destroyed in an earthquake. Next to the Temple there is a Roman bath with a partly preserved mosaic floor with a Greek inscription.

 

Geghard is a medieval monastery in the Kotayk province of Armenia, being partially carved out of the adjacent mountain, surrounded by cliffs. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The complex of medieval buildings is set into a landscape of great natural beauty, surrounded by towering cliffs at the entrance to the Azat Valley.

Lake Sevan is the largest body of water in Armenia and the Caucasus region, and is one of the largest freshwater high-altitude (alpine) lakes in Eurasia. The Lake is called “blue-eyed beauty” of Armenia.

ETCHMIADZIN CATHEDRAL ARMENIA

Etchmiadzin Cathedral is the mother church of the Armenian Apostolic Church, located in the city of Vagharshapat (Etchmiadzin), Armenia. According to scholars it was the first cathedral built in ancient Armenia, and is considered the oldest cathedral in the world. In 2000 UNESCO added Etchmiadzin Cathedral, the churches of St. Hripsime, St. Gayane, Shoghakat and the ruined Zvartnots Cathedral to the list of World Heritage Sites.

Every month, the Lusadzor farm at Tavoush produces 4 tons of cheese, which are sold in Yerevan and exported to the Moscow hypermarkets.
